This Much I Learned with Mark Evans

In the third episode of Marketing Week’s new podcast series, Direct Line’s marketing boss Mark Evans talks us through his experience of redundancy and offers some support and advice for those who may be going through it now.

Direct Line’s managing director of marketing and digital, Mark Evans, might hold one of the top jobs in marketing now but his career has not been without its challenges.

In fact, Evans has never had to resign from a job because he’s always been made redundant. He has been through the process four times now, including once where his role was cut before he even joined.

In this third episode of the This Much I Learned podcast, Evans talks through his experience of redundancy and how it led him from almost having a career in finance to switching to marketing. He also offers some advice from his experience on building resilience and recommends a Dr Seuss book we should all read to help put things in perspective.

Wise words from Mark Evans. I too take solace in the simple words of Dr Seuss and have recommended the same book to friends and colleagues. He explores well the concept of resilience and how knocks and bumps along the way have helped him to accept more.
